A YEAR IN THE WORD
"How happy are the ones who do not follow the advice of the wicked or take the path of sinners or join a group of mockers! Instead, their delight is in the Lord’s instruction,
and they meditate on it day and night. They are like trees planted beside streams of water that bear fruit in season and whose leaves does not wither.
Whatever they do prospers."
-Psalm 1:1-3-

We would love to invite you to join us in pursuit of a year long emphasis on growing deeper in our relationship with Jesus Christ. One of the best avenues for deepening any relationship is spending time together and if we want to know Christ more then one of the best ways we can deepen that relationship is to spend time reading God's Word.
This year we at First Baptist Church are committing to reading God's Word together as a Family of Faith by participating in a yearlong challenge to read the Bible through. Whether you have read it through before , or whether this is your first time, it is always easier and more meaningful when you share the experience with others.
Our journey begins January 1st, 2021. We will be following a reading plan created by Scottish minister Robert Murray M'Cheyne (1813-1843) who in his short life cultivated a deep love for the scriptures and sought to organize readings to help his family and congregation grow in their knowledge and affections for God's Word.
By following M'Cheyne's reading schedule we will read through the Old Testament in it's entirety as well as the New Testament twice within a calendar year.
Far from an exercise in legalism, our prayer is that this will be an discipline of joy and that by participating together we will see God begin to move with power within our congregation as we treasure His Word as a Family of Faith.
