First Baptist Church was organized on March 27, 1882. The original seven member congregation exercised a covenant to “promote growth in Christian knowledge, holiness and comfort so that these men and women may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God; to uphold the worship of God and the ordinance of God in His House and hold Covenant Communion with each other in His House; and contribute their prosperity and property for the support of the poor and for the maintenance of a faithful ministry of the gospel among the members.”Today, we affirm our spiritual heritage and continue to live out God’s command to be salt and light to our community
